What We Do

General Meetings

SMC meets biweekly to discuss current topics in the sport management world, prepare for upcoming club events, and break out into industry-specific interest  group briefings

Service Events

Essential to the practice of sport management, we host a minimum of one service event per quarter to harness the tremendous impact sports can generate for local and greater communities

Speaker Spotlights/Panels

We promote frequent interaction with sport management professionals, from a diversity of backgrounds, experience levels, and fields, to help students envision a potential career in sports management after college

Competitions

In line with sport's competitive spirit, we send Northwestern representatives to sport journalism, business, law, and analytics  competitions. Furthermore, we host an annual SMC Sport Business Case Competition for the NU undergraduate community

"Field" Trips

As sports management is a highly experience-driven field, we visit local and regional sport facilities and organizations to develop a hands-on understanding of sport & entertainment event operations

Networking

Bridging the connection between Northwestern undergraduates and sport management employers, we organize and attend events that provide opportunities for entry-level positions at sport organizations

Notable Past Events

SMC got the opportunity to privately tour the home of the Milwaukee Bucks and Marquette basketball which afforded us free courtside seats, as well as seeing equipment, locker rooms, production booths, suites, and more. Students were also treated to a panel of Bucks' professionals including team president Peter Feigin and NBA play-by-play commentator Lisa Byington.
